Me
I think like many people I have been unaware of the importance of health eating and the effect it has. It wasn't until I became unwell with M.E. a couple of years ago, that I was made aware that certain foods I was eating could be making my symptoms worse. It seemed too good to be true that I could improve my condition by making some simple lifestyle changes. I discovered many new foods and began creating my own dishes. I realised that the key is to be flexible and experiment with food and cooking. After learning so much about food through my own experiences, I decided that I wanted to share this with others. A varied diet is important for everyone and can make a noticeable improvement on quality of life and healthy bodies. So lets keep strong and smiley.
How the book came about
I started writing Food4Smiles as my way of sharing my findings and the recipes I have created. I still use these recipes and wanted others to enjoy them too. I started jotting down details of dishes as i created them and made them into easy to follow recipes. I also had to find out a lot of foods, what they contain and where to find alternatives and specialist foods, i also wanted to include this information in the book as I know how long it takes to read all the labels and look round different shops. A natural and varied diet is a
good way to allow your body to gain enough strength to give it what it
needs to allow repair and recovery to take place. As well as being
healthy and happy, my aim is get people involved in cooking, even those
who feel they do not have the physical ability or knowledge, it is all
about practice. I have created my recipes with everybody in mind, so
have a go, enjoy tasting your work and above all enjoy learning,
experimenting and creating smiles on the faces of your friends and
family!
